Located in the old shoe factory of Mäntyharju, Nilkko Brewing is a microbrewery with a strong theme centered around nature, its surroundings, and its inhabitants. Each beer is crafted by hand in this brewery. Adjacent to the microbrewery in downtown Mäntyharju is Nilkko’s own Taproom, a rugged and stylish bar where freshly brewed craft beer can be enjoyed on-site. Unique beers can also be purchased from Nilkko’s own shop to take home, along with occasional other beverages.
Taste is Paramount in the Beers
Nilkko Brewing produces modern, American-style beers with strong roots in Mäntyharju. All beers are made with uncompromisingly high-quality ingredients, including the pure water of Mäntyharju. Inspiration for the recipes is drawn from the nature, animals, and beautiful landscapes of Mäntyharju.
The brewery believes in quality over quantity when it comes to its beers. The focus is on taste, aromas, and balance. Each beer is crafted entirely by hand in their own microbrewery to ensure that every customer receives top-quality products.
Nilkko Brewing has already crafted over twenty different beers, featuring flavors such as grandmother’s rhubarb, local field cucumber, and fruits. The microbrewery is constantly developing new products and seeking fresh flavors from local ingredients.
The Brewery's Story and Name
The brewery’s name comes from the vast Nilkko rock located in landscapes reminiscent of a national park in Mäntyharju. Legend has it that a giant once sat on the Nilkko rock and dipped its feet in the Kallavesi waters.

Creating an Old-School Atmosphere in the Bar
In addition to delicious beer, Nilkko Brewing values a pleasant atmosphere. The old shoe factory next to the railway station provides Nilkko’s own Taproom with unique surroundings, naturally fostering an old-school, even speakeasy-like vibe.
In Nilkko Taproom, alongside Nilkko’s own craft beers, occasional beers from other domestic microbreweries and other beverages such as coffee and, depending on the changing selection, ciders are available.
The microbrewery hosts private events as well as brewery tours and tasting tours for groups. Additionally, live music is featured in the Taproom approximately every two weeks, and once a summer, there’s a larger event, Nilkkofest.
The priority is to offer everyone enjoyable moments with high-quality craft beers and a pleasant atmosphere, all within 500 meters from the train station and less than a kilometer from Mäntyharju market square.
