My children and I spend an extended weekend at a cottage almost every year, and the criterion for finding a cottage is a location that is within an equal distance for everyone. We are a large group, ten adults and three children, so the cottage was the right size. Multiple toilets were also a plus, as was the fact that there were several bedrooms. Another factor in choosing the cottage was that pets were allowed. We also had three dogs with us.
The first impression from the photos alone was how nice it is and more like a real villa. Although the place was new and really nice, it was nevertheless very cozy. The villa was in a tidy condition when we got there and matched well with the pictures we looked at beforehand. The cottage was in a pretty quiet location and that was great. The kids had a great time in the yard with the sledding hill and the dogs could be kept loose in the yard too. Some of us also went fishing. There was also plenty of room for the kids to play inside.
The cottage was well equipped. Everything you needed was there and, for example, there were two dishwashers, which made it very easy for a large group to wash the dishes. The dishes were pretty and there were enough of them. The beds and bedding were of good quality and we slept well in them. There was also a washing machine and a drying cupboard. The sauna was excellent and large, so it could accommodate more people at a time. The sauna gets a rating of 10. Some of us also took a dip in icy water through the prepared hole in the ice and everyone went to the outdoor pool, which was a nice addition to the cottage. I especially I have to mention the landlord, who was very friendly and answered the phone and text messages as soon as we contacted him.
In autumn, I went online to look for a big cottage where I could spend Christmas with a larger group of relatives. The teenagers said they longed for an old-fashioned Christmas, where the whole family would sit around a long table, play board games, enjoy a sauna and spend the Christmas days together in peace and quiet.
My first impression of the cottage was amazement at how big and magnificent it was. A dream come true. On Christmas Eve there was just our own family, but on Christmas Day and Boxing Day more family came. There was plenty of room for everyone and best of all, two fridges made it possible to store Christmas food and two dishwashers made it easy to do the dishes.
We found nothing to complain about. Everything was very clean and stylish. With the modern appliances we wondered a few times how to get them to work, but everything was sorted out with Jarkko's help. The Christmas days' winter landscapes were beautiful through the big windows. We heated the sauna every day and everybody praised the Sauna as excellent. The bravest of us took a dip in the icy water at the prepared hole, but on Boxing Day we decided to heat up the hot tub. I think that was the highlight of Christmas for the teenagers as they watched the stars in the warm pool.
I can warmly recommend Villa Viita to anyone who appreciates style, cleanliness, space and beautiful scenery.
The cottage was found through mökkivuokra.fi. We were looking for a place for five couples and six children under 3 years old. The cottage was found in a place where it was convenient for the group to come from Helsinki, Kuopio, Lahti and Joensuu. The location and the scenery were really nice. The cottage looked even more impressive than in the pictures we had seen. The cottage met the needs of a large group very well. There were plenty of rooms and toilets. Cooking for a large group was easily done in the kitchen, which had good quality appliances and two dishwashers. The soundproofing was good, which made it easier with children sleeping at different times. The children enjoyed the playground and the courtyard where they also had the opportunity to slide down the hill.
The cottage was exactly as advertised. Everything was in tip top condition and the rooms were like a good standard hotel. The place was warm and everything was ready for the weekend. I would say premium level equipment, nothing was missing. Plenty of rooms and toilets, good location, easy to use hot tub, great sauna as well as the ice swimming facility a plus. The sauna was therefore exceptionally wonderful. The best landscape experience, though, may not have been in winter.
I would definitely recommend this place. The children had a great time. The playground, the possibility to slide down the hill and the hot tub were especially nice for the children. Directions to the cottage could be with a map. Some arrivals from the north had to search a bit for the route the last part of the way before they found their way to the cottage. There could have been a bit more lighting at the hot tub.
